back to school again

Well, Bobby and I are bracing ourselves for another school year, this time in the new locale of Manor, TX. Tony has been enjoying his new day care, which is run by the school district. He is quite the social butterfly, and all of the teachers already know him by name and compliment me on how happy and outgoing he is. These are long days for all of us, and we all come home pretty wiped out, but it is good to know our little man is happy and making friends.

Jeanne and Justin are in town this week, and snapped this picture of Tony and Earl, which shows the main and problematic misunderstanding between the two of them: they each consider the other a toy of some sort. Tony was removed from his perch immediately after this picture was taken, and it was explained to him that sitting on the dog and bouncing is not as much fun for Earl. I am sure he understood everything we were saying. As did Earl.

just an update

peek a boo!

It occurred to me that I haven't taken pictures of Tony or done an entry in quite a while (I wonder how many times I've started off with this statement), so I took a couple of quick shots of my very busy buddy. He will be starting daycare next week as Bobby and I head back to work full time for the new school year. I have tried to cuddle with him as much as possible in the past couple of weeks, knowing my time with him will be limited once I am back in the swing of things. He is now playing peek-a-boo, saying "ball" and "kuka" (belly button), and giving high fives all over the place. He looks at the pictures in books a little more intently now, but really won't sit through a whole story. We are going through a little separation anxiety with Bobby being in and out all summer (more often gone than here, really), especially at night. The last two weeks it has been very normal to go through 30 minutes to an hour and a half of screaming and head-banging every time we leave the room. I really hope this is a short phase! Minus these moments at bedtime, he really is the happiest 16 month old I have ever seen.
