things you can do while they're too young to object

Tony had his usual grand old time in the bath tonight; throwing, splashing, and getting Mommy as wet as possible. (Mommy has her revenge - she has a camera and a blog! Ha ha ha!!) He is getting a little braver in the walking department. We can now stand him up and, if we get the balance just right, he will stay vertical for a few seconds. He did let go of the furniture and take a couple of steps this week. It's not walking, but it's progress! The latest joy for Short Round has been the discovery of the baking pans under the stove. Bobby doesn't approve, but if I give the kid the cake pans and a wooden spoon I can cook dinner without a little whining lump attached to my leg. Oh, yes, and Tony has perfected a game loved by toddlers the world over: Dump It on The Floor. There are no real skills involved, and absolutely no clean up. You just take anything that has been put away and dump it on the floor!! Tear it! Drool on it! Attempt to eat it! Feed the dog Cheerios until he pukes on it! Then simply walk away until you find something else entirely too tidy for your liking. The toddler always wins in this game, and, of course, who ever is watching the child at the time is the loser.

Tony's budding organizational skills

Tony and I have a mother - son weekend alone while Bobby is house-hunting in Austin. We have both been offered jobs in Manor, TX and have gladly accepted. This means we get to live in Austin. I could not be happier! To get back to the subject of these pictures, I put Tony on our guest bed to play so I could work on the computer. He decided to go through some pictures and papers that were boxed up and ready to be filed, just to add his little organizing flourish. I agree they look much better now with chewed, crumpled edges and spread out over the bed and floor. What were we thinking stacking them up, anyway?

The First Birthday Bash

Who can believe that it's been a year since this chubby little man was just a tiny, sleepy infant? Wasn't it just yesterday that I got off that plane and met my little Tony? We had a great first birthday bash, complete with my Star Wars cake decorating debut, Tony's first chocolate cupcake, and a Darth Vader pinata.

Happy Belated Bear-Day!

Ok, so this is Big Bob here...Tony and I both reached milestones yesterday: he's now 1 year old and I'm now the big 3-0. I played hookie with him because I was exhausted from working on this presentation for school the day before, and because I had a LONG overdue Dr's appointment. I also took Tony in for his 12 month shots, and he only cried for 1 out of the 4 shots he got! That's my little papasito macho! Here's a belated birthday pic we took after mommy made us some macaroni for lunch. I call it "Cheese and Maca-Tony!"
