when your kid does this, it merits the day's third posting

Spoon?! Ha! Those are for losers!

cookies!!

Last night I made chocolate chip cookies. Tony, with his usual food obsession, was of course very impatient to find out exactly what I was making and to taste it for himself. I had a slight mishap with the eggs - I had the mixer on "stir" and has both sticks of butter and one egg in, when the other egg slipped from my hands and into the bowl. Butter flew out, and, as I was panicking to turn it off and pull out the eggshells, Tony seized his opportunity and grabbed about 2 TBSP of butter off the floor and made off with it. He was REALLY mad when I wrestled it out of his hand. Why shouldn't he be allowed to eat a giant hunk of butter strait off the floor?
After his bath we sat down for Tony's very first serving of home-made cookies and milk. When he was done, he saw me put the rest of the cookies in the oven. He sat down in front of the oven door, with both hands on the glass, just staring at the cookies as they baked. "So this is where cookies come from? Wow..."

Tia Jeanne visits, Tony's finished room

Tia Jeanne came down for a nice visit with us this weekend. We saw some old friends, the new Harry Potter movie, and Jeanne kept Tony occupied while Bobby and I worked to finish painting and decorating the little guy's bedroom. Jeanne took many more pictures than I did, including our trip to the park this morning. I will hopefully be posting them soon!

Summertime with the kiddos

trying to get a ball up onto the dresser

rolling on the floor with Earl

I am yet again counting down the hours until my dear husband comes home. He was gone for a week in June for a leadership retreat in the Nevada desert, and is currently at a week-long training for all of the Technology High teachers on the new philosophy of high school they are implementing at his campus. He will be home tomorrow. Anyhow, I am reaching the end of my rope between the dog and the Tony. Tonight while I was diapering Tony and putting him to bed, Earl found the dirty diaper in the bathroom and made quite a mess. I have many words for those absorbent, gooey crystals that came out of the diaper (but not up off the floor). I will not type them here. Lucky for them, my two charges have a totally different outlook on the situation. They have had a blast finding trouble around the house for one another. Whether it is throwing dog food into the dog water, feeding Earl someone's shoes or a stuffed animal, emptying cabinets and hiding the contents, or seeing who can drool the most on the couches, it has been a grand old time for all parties under three feet tall.
